We, [Crs. Simms Galer Lund] agreed that the people of Dunedin should decide on whether elected representatives should vote using Dunedin’s current NZ-modified STV computer program system or the more commonly used FPP voting system where those with the most first preference votes are elected.
Good that Mayor Barker has agreed to support Cr. Simms’ motion to give Dunedin Citizens the choice!
This public decision could also be held alongside any by-election to save the enormous $400,000+ cost of a standalone binding referendum which had appeared to be our only option.
